MAG Box IPTV Setup Guide
MAG boxes don't use apps or playlists. They connect to a portal that's linked to the box's own MAC address. Once you understand that, setup is one of the simplest there is: no app store, no typing logins, just one web address.
How IPTV Works on a MAG Box
Most devices sign in with a username and password. A MAG box signs in with its MAC address, a unique ID fixed to the hardware.

And send you a portal URL
Restart, and channels load
Because the box itself is your login, there's nothing to type except the portal address, and nothing to lose if you forget a password. It also means one subscription line is tied to one MAG box. If you replace the box, the new MAC needs registering. The same MAC-based idea is used by many smart TV apps, as explained in our Samsung TV IPTV guide, but on a MAG box it's built into the device.
Find Your MAG Box's MAC Address
- Turn the box over. The label on the bottom shows the MAC, normally starting with 00:1A:79.
- Take a clear photo of the label rather than copying it by hand.
- Can't reach the bottom of the box? The MAC also appears in the box's settings menu, under device or network information.
Don't confuse it with the serial number. The label lists several codes. The MAC is the one in six pairs separated by colons.
Send Us the MAC and Get Your Portal URL
- Message us the photo of your label on WhatsApp or Telegram, or choose MAG Box as your device on the IPTV 24 hour free trial form and include your MAC.
- We register the MAC on our system, usually right away.
- You receive a portal URL. Keep that message open, you'll need it in the next step.
Why not an M3U link? MAG boxes aren't built for playlists. The portal gives you the full MAG experience instead: a channel menu, TV guide, films and series, all designed for the remote.

Enter the Portal URL on Your MAG Box
- Press the SETUP (or SET) button on the remote. On some firmware, open Settings from the main menu instead.
- Go to System settings, then Servers, then Portals.
- In Portal 1 name, type any name. In Portal 1 URL, enter the address exactly as sent, including any /c/ at the end.
- Press OK to save, then go back to the main settings menu.
Restart the Portal and Start Watching
- In the settings menu, choose Restart portal. If you can't see it, switch the box off at the wall for ten seconds and back on.
- The box shows a loading screen while it connects. This takes a few seconds.
- The portal's main menu appears with TV, Video Club or similar sections. Open TV and pick a channel.
Stuck on "Loading portal…"? The address is almost always the cause. Check it character by character against our message, including http:// and the ending.
MAG Box Settings for a Better Experience
Set the right time zone
A wrong time zone shifts the whole TV guide by hours. Set it in the box's system settings under time or date options, and keep the time server (NTP) setting on.
Match the video output to your TV
Under the video settings, choose 1080p on a Full HD TV, or 2160p on a 4K TV with a 4K-capable MAG. Pick 50 Hz if you mostly watch European sport.
Use the network cable
MAG boxes are built for Ethernet, and many models only get Wi-Fi through an extra USB adapter. A cable is the most reliable choice.
Keep the firmware updated
Look for Software update in settings. Newer firmware often fixes portal loading issues and improves playback.
MAG Box Error Messages Explained
| Message | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| "STB blocked" | The MAC isn't active on the service, or the line has expired | Send us your MAC again so we can check the registration |
| Stuck on "Loading portal…" | The portal address is wrong or the box has no internet | Re-check the URL, then confirm the network cable or Wi-Fi is connected |
| "Authorization failed" | The MAC registered doesn't match this box | Compare the MAC on the label with the one you sent |
| TV guide times are wrong | Time zone not set | Set your time zone and restart the portal |
| "No signal" on the TV | Wrong HDMI input or output resolution | Select the right HDMI input; if needed, lower the box's video resolution |
| Channels stutter at busy times | Network congestion | Use Ethernet and restart your router |

MAG Box IPTV: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use an M3U link on a MAG box?
Not in the usual way. MAG boxes are designed to connect to a portal using their MAC address. That's why we send a portal URL for MAG instead of a playlist.
Can I move my subscription to a new MAG box?
Yes. Send us the new box's MAC and we'll move the registration across. You then enter the same portal URL on the new box.
Can I watch on my MAG box and my phone with one subscription?
A MAG line is tied to the box's MAC. If you'd also like to watch on a phone or tablet, contact us and we'll explain the options for adding a second device.
Which MAG model is best for IPTV?
Any current model works. Newer ones such as the MAG 524 support 4K and run the portal more smoothly than older boxes like the MAG 322.
Is a MAG box better than a Firestick or Android TV?
MAG boxes are very simple and stable, which suits people who just want live TV. If you'd like to choose your own apps, an Android TV device or a Firestick gives you more flexibility.
What does Portal 2 do?
It's a backup slot. You can leave it empty; it's only used if you want to switch between two services.
Have a MAG Box? Test It Free
